Introduction: Out of the Fog: Responses and Remedies for the Illegal Separation of Children from their Families in the Context of Intercountry Adoption
Facing the Past: Policies and Good Practices for Responses to Illegal Intercountry Adoptions (2024)

Abstract
This chapter reconceptualizes illegal adoption as usually involving the illegal separation of children from families. That reconceptualization provides a better context for addressing responses and remedies to illegal adoption, including illegal intercountry adoption. The chapter provides an in-depth exploration of responses and remedies to illegal intercountry adoption, and why the provision of appropriate remedies has proven so difficult and elusive.
